Make Your Own Inexpensive Energy Efficent Ubuntu Linux File Server: Part 3/4 – Installing Ubuntu Linux

I want to use the default settings for partitioning the disk so I chose yes. This picture actually shows when I was trying to setup with Ubuntu 9.10. As you can see, it has ext4 as one of the file systems. It is a new feature with 9.10. Ubuntu 9.04 only allows you to use up to ext3. That is the file system I actually went with.

Here you type in a username. Don’t use root or sudo. If you have another username on a computer you are using at home, I would recommend using the same one. (I may have missed a screen where you enter in your real name.)

Here is the password you will use for your account. It will also be the password for your root or sudo access.
